Google Trends Tactic

October 5th, 2008
Using Google Trends…I use this tactic on my news/gossip blogs everyday and it gets me steady daily traffic. On top of that, at least 4-5 times a week I get a butt load of traffic. (I’m talking about getting 2,000 hits directing to 1 blog post)This is how I do it.

http://www.google.com/trends?hl=en

This is what people are searching for, updated often.

If you have a wordpress blog, this can really help you get the traffic you need to keep up a steady flow without doing much work.

Goto the trends link and find the top ten most searched terms.

Follow the popular search word/words to the source (CNN, BBC, FoxNews, Etc)

Copy the article, rewrite it. (I’ll post about this in next entry).

You will notice on the trends page, the popular search word(s) have similar search terms listed under it.

Use these in your post if you can, and definitely use them for your tags. They are already separated by commas, so a simple copy and paste will do the trick.

Now watch the traffic roll in, it takes a matter of minutes to see it happen. (Be sure to have a decent ping list in your WP) Hot searches sometimes come back within a day or two. Having published your post already, your blog will usually be in the top three searches on google. I’m not just talking about the google trends results either, regular google searches!

I use my PPC & PPA campaigns and get the steady hits I need to make decent $$ everyday. I’d suggest anyone looking for an easy way to get some hits, try this tactic out and you won’t be disappointed.

    Great idea man,

I love to hear of ways to make

money now! I am inpatient and

generally looking for that quick fix

so that sounds great. Can you talk

a little about how exactly you monetize

the traffic. And our you using a WP blog

on your domain or at wordpress? Love to

hear how your monetizing man. By the way

this is a great idea for a first product if your

wanting to do it. If you need a partner im in

Again, great post man, look forward to more

    detail.

    Cheers,

    Nick

  2. Nefret says:

Excellent info! Thanks so much for the insights.

  3. Estelle says:

I’m using simple PPA banners on my site, along with the standard PPC stuff. Nothing special, it all works. I also have a opt-in form for "free product samples". This is so simple, it’s silly. If your using a blog focused on news/current events/hot products/etc and not using this, your losing money and traffic.

  4. Gurit says:

Cool man, thanks can you suggest a good place to

get ppa banners from? and just to clarify, this is on

    your domain right?

  5. Laik says:

You can choose any affiliate that tickles your fancy, I like NeverblueAds myself. Yes, I use my own domains on my own web host. You could use free hosting, but you’ll be competing with their built in ad crap.

  6. Anonymous says:

Excellent man, i am going to work

right now, just curious, how much

do you pull in per day from this?

  7. Bimala says:

I use this on several blogs and don’t always keep track of each one’s earnings. I’d say about $5 per blog with Ads3nse and anywhere from $10-$20 with PPC. the more blogs you have, obviously, the more you’ll make.

  8. Zeus says:

hey i was just checking out the cookie diet trend, it has 531 000

broad searches, seems way to many. Whats the usual searches

limit that you go for, or do you only judge by phrase match?

  9. Ioviano says:

Thanks for sharing your method Pofecker… simple but effective … i’m sure the whole gossip/celebrity internet niche is fulll of opportunities.

and to NICKe83, did u mean to shape ur post like a boobie, or did it jus happen by chance…? lol

  10. Xanthus says:

Oh Yes (^_^) I never think about that before. Thanks pofecker

  11. Neka says:

    lol, i always do that

i think i will make it my trade mark

  12. Ringo says:

What i love about this is there is always enough to go around

  13. Bat says:

thats an awesome idea. I think this would be fun to try this method out. If you think outside the box the possibilities are endless…

  14. Raffaello says:

Thanks, Why I didn’t think this good ideas. Go to try…

  15. Yan says:

thanks – i’m going to try this!

  16. Ginny says:

*Spits coke all over the screen*

  17. Walta says:

hahahaha, glad i could make someone laugh, or spit coke

    in this case, lol

  18. Nell says:

I am making a list of sources to find hot searched subjects that can generate quick traffic. So far i have Yahoo buzz, google trends and ebay pulse. Is there any that anyone else could share too to help with this idea?

  19. Oran says:

He has quite a collection of those

  20. Baden says:

awesome, thank you pofecker!! I put this on test right away

  21. Anonymous says:

hmm… i tried this method. I tested it with a number one search word at this time, "first day of summer", and posted a rewrited article about it on my blog, and used ping-o-matic to ping. I did this over an hour ago, but after checking and updating my awstats, I got no visitors to my blog… I wonder what I did wrong?

  22. Anonymous says:

dont you check wikipedias rank out of first page? and my question is what google trends standard is. its definitelly not the hugest traffic words like yahoo buzz or ebay pulse, but the strongest tendency change based on kind of traffic

  23. Nelia says:

lol, oh well lessons learnt the hard way…

    Anyone else had any results?

  24. Hailey says:

    gotta do more research yeah…

  25. Hailey says:

The key is to pick at least 10 of the top results. Sometimes you cant compete with sites like Digg and such, so the more the better. Another tip would be to find a hot search term, go comment on the top website and offer something they don’t have. Like Tim R. just passed away, I’m sure people would have been interested in seeing almost any video of him or his son. YouTube is easy to plugin to a post in wp. Get creative and the traffic will fall into your lap, offer the same tired shit and you might get hits, but no one will stick around long enough to explore your site.

Also, G00gle Trends has a RSS feed! You may wanna grab is a few times a week and make one post out of it. I wouldn’t over do it, but once in awhile it will bring in some hits and add to your keywords.

I’m happy to see people trying this out, it’s nice when your work is paid off so quickly. I’d recommend anyone using wordpress and hosting it them self’s to grab these two plugins…
counterize 2 and wassup. (google search them). They both help show you exactly where your hits are coming from and the popular search terms that are getting you noticed on google. The wassup plugin actually gives you real time scrolling hits information. Sure, you could use other stuff for stats, but it’s nice to have it all within the wp console.

  26. Musetta says:

Will this method works well with Blogger?

  27. Prue says:

Yes, I’ve seen blogger sites come up in the trend search results. I haven’t tested it, but I don’t see why not.

  28. Chogan says:

    Hey Pofecker,

Is there any trick to FTPing those two plugins?

I just tried and there seemed to be some sort of error,

and they are not showing up at all in my dash board.

    Any help much appreciated,

    Nick

  29. Humvee says:

Well, As per my knowledge this is one of the method mentioned in ebook called Project quick cash.com by Alok jain…it’s really a nice trick to make you extra $20/day.

  30. Anonymous says:

carsonrathi, if you uploaded the plugins into the proper directory, you will need to activate the plugin in the admin panel. Wassup should show up on the top of the menu and counterize should be under "manage" and "setup". You may wanna check and make sure you uploaded the plugins to the right place. If all else fails, RTFM.

  31. Gale says:

thanks pofecker for good info. going to cash it

  32. Tab says:

    Hi Pofecker,

You mean we can also use the words from "Related Searches" for the meta tags?

  33. Henri says:

I was thinking of creating a subdomain with the hot trend keyword. it can give more "weight" to the ranking of the blog.

  34. so much info,,thx river :D
