Assuming that you already know and appreciate the benefits of posting comments on other people’s blogs, here are a few tips to help you choose the best blogs to leave those wonderful comments of yours on.

There is rarely a point to leave a comment on blogs that have nothing at all to do with the main theme of your blog. A direct connection is unnecessary but preferable. If you are, for instance, maintaining healthy food topic, you don’t always have to restrict your comments on blogs that tackle the very same topics. You can also visit a beauty blog, for instance, and post comments regarding the benefits that healthy food consumption offer with regard to one’s physical appearance.

A quick way to determine the nature of any blog is by checking out its blog description. If there is none, just browse through its content and see if you’re targeting the same keywords.

Likewise, it’s senseless to leave comments on little-known blogs. With such a small readership base, you won’t be able to justify the amount of time and effort it could take you to post the best comments. If you’re going to use comments to promote your blog, it’s better to post them at blogs that are equally popular or more so than yours.

You can use the blog’s page rankings to determine the popularity rating of other blogs and compare it with yours.

Naturally, it’s best to concentrate your efforts on blogs whose owners are likely to reciprocate your action. Whether or not you’re the first to make contact, as long as the other party benefited from the comment you posted then it’s only good business for them to reciprocate.

To determine the chances of having comments left on your blog and link exchanges, try reading the previous entries in other blogs. Follow the links of those who posted comments on their blogs and see if the favor was returned. You know what to do next.

Blogs need not have the same interest in order to benefit from comment exchange. With careful planning, traffic can be generated for two different blogs with just a couple of comments posted on each other’s entries, we can called to have similarity in target market.

A dance blog and a food blog may not have anything in common at first glance, but if you look more closely, you’ll realize that both of them may target the same age group. Two different blogs may also have target the same geographical area.

If you can find a major connection between both your target markets, beneficial comment exchange is very much possible but only with careful planning. First, you’ll need to think of a topic that could link your interests together. Just concentrate on your target market, and you’re sure to find one.

If we go back to the food and dance blog example and assume that both are targeting teenagers, articles that could require the blog owners to exchange comments would be about the best food for dancers during competition and the best dance workouts for those on a diet.

Of course, it’s not bad at all to leave a comment on someone else’s blog just because you want to. If you have the time and the inclination then go ahead! There may be no way for you to benefit from such an action now but this small act of generosity and goodwill could turn out good for you in the long run.

The long-distance phone business has changed in recent years. It is not so long ago that people used to pay amounts that would have been ten times the amount we pay today. Read books written by successful people always inspire me to be one of them. The last book I read was the CEO Succession by Dennis C Carey. In my opinion, the book is very good as it is shows how to put the key of essential elements in the succession agenda.

The books also shows how to put through a culture of self renewing succession that will develop the leadership in all managements levels; how to maintain the CEO on track by make a healthy relationship between the CEO and the Board, and bench mark CEO internal candidates.

The author of the book, Denis C Carey, shares his stories and personal interviews with his own experience when he was working with different CEO’s and directors of the many leading companies. He also shares the techniques of creating a transparent and systematic planning process that will promote an unseamed transition of leadership at any level of the managements. The book also describes the up-close look of different companies.

Google Trends Tactic

October 5th, 2008
Using Google Trends…I use this tactic on my news/gossip blogs everyday and it gets me steady daily traffic. On top of that, at least 4-5 times a week I get a butt load of traffic. (I’m talking about getting 2,000 hits directing to 1 blog post)This is how I do it.

http://www.google.com/trends?hl=en

This is what people are searching for, updated often.

If you have a wordpress blog, this can really help you get the traffic you need to keep up a steady flow without doing much work.

Goto the trends link and find the top ten most searched terms.

Follow the popular search word/words to the source (CNN, BBC, FoxNews, Etc)

Copy the article, rewrite it. (I’ll post about this in next entry).

You will notice on the trends page, the popular search word(s) have similar search terms listed under it.

Use these in your post if you can, and definitely use them for your tags. They are already separated by commas, so a simple copy and paste will do the trick.

Now watch the traffic roll in, it takes a matter of minutes to see it happen. (Be sure to have a decent ping list in your WP) Hot searches sometimes come back within a day or two. Having published your post already, your blog will usually be in the top three searches on google. I’m not just talking about the google trends results either, regular google searches!

I use my PPC & PPA campaigns and get the steady hits I need to make decent $$ everyday. I’d suggest anyone looking for an easy way to get some hits, try this tactic out and you won’t be disappointed.

Monetizing PC Site

October 5th, 2008

I have a blog that’s based on computers but I’m having a lot of trouble monetizing it.

The site gets about 50-90 visitors per day. Currently I have adsense on there, and it is only making around 20 cents a day. I think this might be more due to ad blindness in computer savvy users rather than ad placement.

I am new to internet marketing and am currently interested in other ways to monetize this blog so any help or advice on how to do this would be great.

I read the tutorial floating around about using Google Insights to make money advertising and I thought it was a pretty neat idea.

However, I got sick and tired of searching for the keywords myself, so I decided to automate the process.

I have designed a small Console Application in C# that allows you to give the program a keyword list, time frame, and 2 threshold values. Inputting the correct combination of keywords and thresholds, you hit enter, and let the program run for a short while (or CTRL+C if you don’t want to wait forever) and it will create a CSV file loaded with all of the breakout search terms from all of your searches.

* The keyword list acts as a file which you will scrape all up-and-coming keywords on that page

* The first threshold represents the search volume you’d like to scrape from your keyword list. Example: You search for “chicken recipes”, and in the list of related search terms you see the following:

1. chicken recipe
2. recipe
3. recipes for chicken
4. recipes with chicken
5. easy chicken recipes
6. chicken breast recipes
7. soup recipes

This threshold (0-100) decides which of these keywords you would also like to scrape from the page.

* The second threshold (0-5000) determines which keywords you feel are valuable in the list of Rising searches. The program will automatically add all breakout terms to your output, but you also have the option of choosing stuff like keywords that are 1250% on the rise (just input 1250) The program automatically adds the valuable keywords to your scrape list so you can exploit any further breakout terms related to the breakout term

* The time frame is the time in months which you would like to perform your searches on. I’ve only really used it for 1, 3, and 9 month time-frames, but I could alter the code if you’re looking for specific date ranges.

My questions:

1) Is there any interest if I decided to release this product publicly?

2) How much would you guys be willing to pay for it? ( Please, no crap answers, this is a powerful utility which makes advertising keyword investigations a very very trivial experience, plus I get $40/hour at my day job, please don’t BS me )

3) What other features would you guys like to see in such an application? I have decided to remove a lot of the data that is inherent with the searches, but I could just as easily put the stuff back in.

Here’s a sample of what the program looks like when you run if from a command console:

Code:

>GoogleInsightsScraper.exe /?
Usage: GoogleInsightScraper <keywordFile> <timeFrame> <threshold_iterations> <threshold_breakout>

Keywords:
keywordFile - The list of keywords you want to search against
timeframe - An integer value representing how many months from today you would like results for
threshold_iterations - The threshold for iterations of specific keywords
threshold_breakout - The threshold for values to add to the list of up-and-coming keywords

Code:

>GoogleInsightsScraper.exe keywords.txt 3 95 175

ClickBank Short Tutorial

October 5th, 2008

Here is a quick Clickbank tutorial for those that are not familiar with this very popular affiliate network. Also, hopefully this will help you pick a good product to promote.

1) Visit the Clickbank Marketplace at http://www.clickbank.com/marketplace.htm.

2) Enter the search criteria and keywords that you are interested in. You will want to sort by “High Gravity”.

3) Click on the “Go” button and you’ll get a list of products.

4) When viewing different products, you will want to analyze the following:

$/Sale – This is the amount that you’ll earn from each Sale. Look for a product that offers at least $20 in commission. This should be sufficient to cover your advertising costs.

% refd – This is the percent of sales that have come from affiliates. Look for a product that has %refd of 70 or above. A lesser %refd indicates that the product is not popular among affiliates and the sales are coming from merchant’s own promotions.

Gravity – This is an indicator of how many affiliates are promoting the product. This is only an indicator and not an absolute number. The higher the gravity, the more affiliates are promoting it and vice versa. Look for a product that has gravity between 20 and 100 (A gravity of more than 100 indicates that the competition is high).

Note – Gravity also depends on a niche. Some niches have lots of products but all of them have low gravity. This doesn’t mean that the products are not good. It simply means that the products in that niche is not promoted by many affiliates. You can very well select a product that has gravity of less than 20 and earn decent profits.

But our research is not over yet. We need to dig in a bit more to see if the products that we have selected are worth promoting. The next step is to analyze the performance trends for the products that we have selected. Before we do that we need the merchant id of the products that we have selected.

It is very easy to find merchant id for any product. You will see a “Create Hoplink” link below each product description. After clicking on the “Create Hoplink” button, the merchant id for the product appears in the hoplink after your clickbank ID.

Next we have to analyze the performance of individual products over a period of time. This is crucial to judge whether the products that we have selected are indeed the best ones.

To check the performance trend of a Clickbank product, head to CBTrends
http://www.cbtrends.com/clickbank-pr…ce-trends.html. Enter the Vendor ID of the selected products (one at a time) in the space provided and click on “Click to get the performance trends”.

CBTrends will give the performance trend for the product that we have selected. If the product is in Clickbank for more than 6 months, it will give the trends for 6 months. Else, it will give the trends for the period that the product has been on Clickbank.

An increase in gravity is a very good sign. You should always promote products that show an increase in gravity. Declining gravity over long period of time is never a good sign. You should not pick such a product to promote.

In some niches, you will find that the product with highest gravity is actually declining in popularity and gravity whereas a competitor product with lower gravity is gaining in popularity and gravity. In such cases pick the product that is gaining popularity as it is getting more popular and you can benefit by promoting it.
